Funky bags and togs at Maizen in Lot 10
28 April 2003
Lot 10 welcomes another fashion trendsetter in its midst today with the launch of fashion retail store, Maizen. The brainchild of two talented young ladies, co-founders Shirieene Hajamaideen and Rekha Sen, is located at the 3rd Floor of Lot 10.
Penang-born and London-based designer, Justin Oh did the honour of launching the boutique by snipping a clothesline adorned with intricate Maizen bags. Guests and members of the press were also treated to the unveiling of Justin Oh's Spring/Summer 2003 collection, available exclusively at the Maizen boutique as well as a special one-day-only 15% discount on all new stock.
The guests were then ushered to the Third Floor Restaurant at the JW Marriott Hotel where the cocktail soiree and fashion show was held. Socialites and who's who of the fashion industry were seen sipping wine and tasting the specially whipped up canapés by chef Ken Ho amidst the minimalist chic backdrop of the Third Floor Restaurant.
As the sensual tune, 'Besame Mucho' filled the room, two dancers, Peter Ong and Fiona Jane Gomez of Dance Space, took to the floor to enthral guests with a sensual rumba number. This was followed by the highlight of the evening - the much anticipated catwalk show by Justin Oh.
Justin's choice of music entitled "Heathen mixed with Pater" was inspired by two elements: 'Heathen' stemming from his Asian roots and 'Pater' brought around by the 1940s 'New Look'. The tunes were combined to accentuate the dual showcase of both his Spring/Summer 2003 collection as well as his current collection of Autumn/Winter 2003.
The Maizen collection features a hodge-podge of up-and-coming designers including international labels like "T-bags", "Lovelife", "Alice & Trixie". "Tocca", "Sally Skirt", "Wang", "Bellablu", "Justin Oh", as well as accessories "Tarina Tarantino", "Janna Conner", "Mei Fa", and "Facets Fusion". back to top
